FRIED ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!

Almost every year we make it to a nearby festival for this delightful treat! It is only once a year the people set up and make it and it is so yummy! Today my daughter declared it dork day since we drove all the way there for this and then turned around and came home but when we asked her was it worth it she said OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep my taste buds agree LOL!

I was also looking for a t-shirt for someone but the guy didn't have any shirts in the size I needed so that was a no go :( Bummer I was excited to get the shirt and see the reaction from my friend. I will have to see if there are any other alternatives for me before I see him.

hope you all have had a good weekend...until last night my weekend kept going down hill with vehicle issues. Hopefully dh will have the last of them fixed tomorrow and we can be on our way again. I hate it when it rains it pours!

not a good day so far

had a ton of things to do today while dh was at work. Got up early, got my stuff done here and was showered ready to go, get in car and hear a funny noise so I pull off the road and get out to look, FLAT TIRE :( Now what do I do, go right back home as it is flat as can be riding on the rims is not a good thing. Call dh tell him he says he can't do anything till her gets home which I already knew but here is the dilemma...needed to go to PO, bank and grocery since we have no food. Also I am going away this next week, I have no idea where the stinkin bus station is that I am leaving from and since the bus leaves at midnight or something like that I wanted to know where the heck I was going so I wasn't walking around a big city at night without a clue. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I just hate this. DD is at work already so I can't even take her car to do my errand's. Dh should be home by time DD gets home so now I am here not getting a dang thing done and po'd cause every time I plan something it gets thrown in the garbage lately. I have really had enough and if I could feasiblyrun away from all this right now I surely would...without having to come back to it you KWIM!

so I guess I will go work on some cards I need to get done and out of here before the end of next week....I am totally stressed about the whole bus thing now!

Peameal Bacon

so the meatloaf was good last night and we ALL enjoyed a dinner together which rarely happens. I threw in some broccoli at the last minute and we ate that of course dh had to have cheese on it so I tossed a bit on top but not a lot - it was still green LOL!
Today for some reason I am having a hankering for some peameal bacon. Can't get it anywhere around me I have no idea why I am wanting it -but I am. Wonder if my friend in CAN. can send me some or do they allow that across the border? hmmmm gonna have to ask her about that!
yep I am hungry didn't get my breakfast this AM as dd forgot something at home she had to have and I was already leaving early to fill the car up with gas so now the grumbellies have set in...terribly! YIKES I NEED FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO STEELERS!

'nuff said :)

Cake?

my parents 40th anniversary was yesterday and we celebrated with them by having a Caribbean themed dinner party. I had ordered a cake but my cake lady backed out on me :( so I did some research, talked to a friend and decided I would go ahead and give it a try to make a cake for them. Well I know I can bake, I know I can make a good filling and I can.....well dream I guess LOL! This sure didn't turn out the way I intended and I ended up leaving it home for us to have and bought a cake from the local bakery to take with us to the party! I wanted a fondant covered cake, well that was the easy part actually I made the fondant during the week and it was fun and went well! So Sat I went to the store because I couldn't find my round cake pans anywhere and I figured rather than stress about it I will just go to "the Walmart" and buy a set. I found some and kept thinking I had a 10 inch round (the one I had found) at home so I got an 8 and a 6 and was going to make a topsy turvy cake for them with fun Caribbean colors! Well as you can see that is not what happened! :(

The marbling was ok I was happy with that - the fading to pink was not cool though and once I got home I had no other food color (yeah where is it like it got up and walked away or something I have no clue!) the cake doesn't look right cause 2 layers are the same size, we had some trouble with the dowel rods too and one started to poke through as the cake "settled" overnight and a portion of it ripped when I was moving it so my fix stuck out like a sore thumb!! It was like a comedy of errors! Anyway it ended up to be a good thing that I didn't take it as my filling was raspberry and come to find out one of my Uncles that was there can't have nuts & seeds so that would of not been good! DH, DD and I are looking forward to eating this one and sharing with some friends who could care less what it looks like as long as it tastes good! ROFL! Oh and the leftover fondant well took that with me and gave it to my niece and nephew for edible play dough! Hope they have fun!

I don't think I will be fondanting (hmm is that a word?) again any time soon although it was very therapudic to knead the fondant to the desired consistancy! he he

annoyed, anger, frustration...

I came into work today and it is Friday and that is payday so usually the guys have already taken their checks or there is just one or two and they get them after I am gone - no biggie they sit on the corner of my desk. Well today one of the guys was waiting for me to get here as we had cut the payroll late this week and boss did not put them on the desk but left it for me to do this AM. There are some pay issues revolving around times worked and length of breaks and all that and twice now this week I have been put in a position to have to answer questions from the employees about why or why not they are or aren't being paid for things...this is NOT right and today was the last straw for me and I am not sure what feeling I am feeling here but I am MAD as heck I do know that! So yeah I pretty much feel like the poor frog up there and want to say PLEASE stop throwing crap at me when it should be directed elsewhere and you darn well know it! Quit acting like a child and start being the grown up you are!
grrrrrrrrrrr.....
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming........

STOMP!

We have wanted to see this show for some time so I finally got everyone together and we bought to tickets to go in a couple weeks when it is in Cleveland. We saw a bit of thios several years back at one of the OmniMax shows in Columbus while visiting COSI and that was enough to leave us wanting more! I am pretty excited - we have the Smart Seats (which probably means the boonies LOL!) but usually you can see ok and it is the listening that I am most looking forward too!
If you have no clue what I am talking about lol here is the description of it:
**STOMP is explosive, provocative, sophisticated, sexy, utterly unique and appeals to audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered an armful of awards and rave reviews, and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms. The return of the percussive hit also brings some new surprises, with some sections of the show now updated and restructured and the addition of two new full-scale routines, utilizing props like tractor tire inner tubes and paint cans. As USA Today says, “STOMP finds beautiful noises in the strangest places.” STOMP. See what all the noise is about.

I DID enjoy it!

well a couple people have asked me if I really did have fun this past weekend or if I was just saying that. They said the bugs and historical place and then a steak dinner didn't really sound like a fun and romantic way to celebrate an anniversary.

Yes it was!

The historical village isn't one of dust and ruins it is a live working street of shops with demonstrations like candle making, tin stamping, cheese and wine shops, gardening, and so many other things I can't even remember them all to tell you. It is a place to walk hand and hand and explore the past mixed with some present and plenty of shopping and treats for the body as well as the eye. The bugs well they are just ewwwww and part of the outdoor thing...the climb was worth it for the view at the top. I admit I could of done without the prickers and getting my finger attacked by them but hey it happens! I am all good now you can just barely see one of the cuts now! All is good! As for steak dinner well it was romantic also, served in a dark restaurant, live music and it tasted delicious! So yes it was a wonderful time and to tell the truth it was a super great weekend because I didn't have to do anything cept be there :) He planned! Do you get it HE PLANNED! that is enough in itself!

So thanks for all the well wishes...I DID enjoy it!

the weekend...

was wonderful :)

We got up and left early on Saturday going out to breakfast. Remember the place I said didn't have my grits well dh convinced me to go there again and they did have them this time - apparently I was not the only one who missed them LOL! anyway that was a nice surprise and I also had a cheese and tomato omelet. Then we hopped back into the truck and headed south on the highway - I still didn't know where we were going. DH got off at the next exit which happened to be the Outlet Mall so I was kinda grinning thinking we were going there but NOPE he turned the other direction LOL. SO we were off for a drive apparently as I know there isn't a whole lot along the way other than winding hills and Amish area. Beautiful drive it was! I was content with just that part! We ended up going to the area where dh hunts he wanted to show me the land and we hiked up to see the top. I got attacked by pricker bushes and ants! YIKES! After that we drove into the town and got a hotel, dropped out bags off and went to get a bit of lunch. We looked at some brochures we had snagged at the hotel and also ones that were ont eh placemat. Decided we would just go back to a nearby restored historical village that also houses shops and spend the afternoon there. We walked from store to store and looked around, picked up a few odds and ends along the way, gathered ideas for things we could make too and then headed back to the hotel as he was taking me out for a steak dinner and then to see a band. We had a great time and I was glad he had taken the time to plan the trip. We went to a HUGE picnic on Sunday and he played some horseshoes and cornhole. Good food, friends and then came home and watched a show before heading off to bed. Wasn't late but being out in the sun all day really tired me out! LOL. I hope that he plans another weekend away he did a darn good job for never having done this before! I hope it is signs of change! All in all it was a nice anniversary.
